Foodservice includes five categories: prepared food; commissary; and hot, cold, and frozen dispensed beverages. In 2024, foodservice overall accounted for 28.7% of in-store sales at U.S. convenience stores—up from to 26.9% of in-store sales in 2023. The largest foodservice contributor is prepared food, which accounted for 68.4% of foodservice sales in 2024, up from 68.1% in 2023. Prepared food continues to experience impressive growth and healthy margins for c-store operators, which can range from chicken, pizza and hot dogs to fresh-prepared sandwiches, soups and salads.
